Titel:
"A multi-criteria optimization approach for the geometric integration of vector-based land cover datasets"
Description:
Author: Farzane Mohseni
Our researchers at the University of Bonn have published a new article in the International Journal of Digital Earth, presenting a multi-criteria optimization approach for the geometric integration of vector-based land cover datasets .
The study focuses on integrating volunteered geographic information from OpenStreetMap with land cover data derived from remote-sensing imagery. Since OpenStreetMap provides vector-based representations and the goal is to generate a harmonized vector layer, the fusion is conducted entirely in a vector environment. The approach combines advanced methods from computational geometry and graph cuts, enabling the efficient computation of optimal solutions.
This work brings together expertise developed in two DFG-funded projects: the CRC DETECT and the AI Research Unit AlgoForGe.
In the series “My paper in 140s”, scientists from the Collaborative Research Center 1502 'DETECT' present syntheses of their project work that have been published in peer-reviewed papers.
